Tall Fescue

Tall fescue grows best in moist environments and is well adapted to sunny or partially shady areas. It can tolerate warm summer temperatures and remains green all winter long. It is a coarse-textured grass that is medium to dark-green in color. Leaf blades are glossy and are rolled in the bud. It is considered a bunchgrass, meaning it does not spread rapidly.

Is Tall Fescue a Weed?

Tall fescue is not all that bad. It has excellent tolerance for heat stress and droughts. It will tolerate moderate traffic and infrequent moving. That is why it can be an ideal grass for environments that experience summers that are too hot and humid for cool season grasses to grow. To some however, it is not aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
